FAQs

What if I am not a ‘super fit’ Mountain Biker?

Our HaiBike XDURO Hardsevens have plus size tyres, suspension forks and of course electric motors allowing riders to select the level of assistance required. This makes a full day mountain bike adventure accessible to those that would not otherwise undertake the challenge! The majority of the circuit is ridden on farm vehicle tracks that are not challenging. That being said, the trail does cover  a variety of trails on natural terrain. This adventure is not riding on a road and does require balance and coordination to navigate obstacles and the mildly rocky terrain on the climb and descent from Cape Frederick Hendrick.

On the full day adventure there are  two short sections of the track where we request guests to dismount and walk their bike to access Two Mile Beach which is ridden on hard sand. There are hills to climb however you can do it with a smile on your face and having a conversation at the same time whilst on your electric bike! We maintain a challenge by choice philosophy, and for your satisfaction the bikes are fitted with an electric push assist function, if you are not comfortable riding a particular section simply hop off your bike and walk until you are ready to ride on. Your balance, coordination, willingness to learn new skills and a base level of level of fitness are the prerequisites for you to fully enjoy your Tasmanian E-bike adventure.

In order to ensure you have a safe and successful day we need to know if you have any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect your experience on the day. For any concerns or clarifications around health or fitness, please get in touch via the Contact Us page on this website.

Are the bike seats comfortable?

If you are bike-fit then you should have no problems at all feeling comfortable in the saddle. However, if the last bike you rode was a BMX Father Christmas left under the tree a couple of decades ago, or it has been a while between bike-based adventures, then you may wish to consider wearing padded bike shorts for your comfort!

Will the Adventure still go ahead in inclement weather?

Tasmania is renowned for a climate offering ‘four seasons in one day’ and we at Tasmanian E-bike Adventures celebrate the diverse experience that Mother Nature provides for our guests.

Looking out from Cape Frederick Hendrick across to a moody Mount Maria crowning Maria Island with her own misty microclimate, is just as picturesque as the clearest and sunniest of days at Bangor. Varied weather conditions showcase the truly rugged wildness of Tasmania whilst offering you an ever-changing vista to admire.

We offer wet weather riding jackets, so unless there is an extreme weather event forecast you will find our group of intrepid adventurers exploring Bangor!

What do I need to bring?

To be fully equipped for your E-bike Adventure you will need to bring:

  • A Day Pack
  • A Water Bottle
  • A lightweight rain jacket (Can be provided by us)
  • A lightweight fleece or jumper to act as an under layer
  • Good sun protection – the Tasmanian sun is particularly harsh, so we recommend:
    • A lightweight and long-sleeved shirt
    • Your preferred sunscreen lotion
    • Sunglasses
    • Sun hat
    • Riding gloves – (Optional) although these are not strictly required, they will provide additional sun protection for your hands
  • Camera

We will provide you with:

  • A Haibike HardSeven E-bike
  • A helmet & waterproof riding jacket
  • Food and beverages for the duration of the ride
  • Transportation between  Bangor Shed and the ride venue.
What do I need to wear?

At Tasmanian E-bike Adventures lycra is not necessary! We encourage you to wear suitable outdoor gear or active wear in which you will feel comfortable for your adventure. Your clothing should also offer some protection from the harsh Tasmanian sun and include some warmer layers to protect against the sea breeze.

Enclosed footwear is an absolute necessity, as you will at times disembark from your Haibike HardSeven for adventuring off the bike trail. Walking boots, trail shoes or sand shoes are the most suitable footwear for this adventure – no sandals please.

What time do I need to be at Bangor to start the adventure?

It is important that you give your self an hour to travel from hobart. Travel time is 50 minutes to Dunalley so departing Hobart by  750 am will ensure the adventure can start as planned.

We meet  at 8 45 am at the Dunally Canal information board rest stop to gather for the day before setting off to Bangor.

Our vehicle and bike trailer will be parked at the side of the road where freshly brewed coffee is available for your enjoyment.

Don’t hesitate to phone us on 0438072453 if you are if you are having any challenges arriving on time.

Please contact us via the Contact Us link on the website if you require assistance in making transport arrangements from Hobart to Bangor.

How do we get to Bangor?

Bangor is located 50 minutes East of Hobart on route to Port Arthur and the Tasman Peninsula.

Follow the Tasman Highway (A3) to Sorell, 27 km out of Hobart, over the Tasman Bridge and out past the Hobart International Airport. Arriving in  Sorell, turn right at the traffic lights to find the Arthur Highway(A9). A further 30 kilometres down the road is Dunally, we gather at Dunally alongside the Dennison Canal for a meet and greet and  rest stop before travelling the remaining few kilometres in convoy to the Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed.

I have specific dietary requirements – can you accommodate them?

The Full Day picnic lunch and the Half Day snacks are prepared  using fresh and local Tasmanian produce and are also gluten-free. We can accommodate other specific dietary requirements but, given the preparation and planning that goes into each adventure and the remoteness of our location on the day, we do request that guests with additional needs make us aware of them on booking via the Contact Us page on this website.

Are there bathroom facilities on the bike trail?

Bangor is privately-owned and remotely located and on your Adventure you will see stunning stretches of coastline, the occasional wombat and echidna and many different bird species. What you will not see is landscape scarred by infrastructure or facilities – you are literally escaping it all!

There is an opportunity to use the toilets at Dunalley before we set off on the Adventure but any bathroom stops along the way will be in the great outdoors or, as we like to call it in the Antipodes, “the bush loo!” Your guides will be able to assist in finding you a discrete location and have the necessary accoutrements to facilitate your bush loo experience, should the need arise!

Is the Adventure suitable for younger children and family groups?

Due to the size of the bike frames we can generally only accommodate children over the age of 14. However, for private family trips, children under the age of 14 may be able to participate.

We invite you to get in touch via the Contact Us page to discuss and arrange your private family E-bike adventure!

Will my mobile phone work at Bangor?

We encourage you to use your phone to capture images and document your experience to share with family and friends. However, due to the location, Bangor has limited mobile phone coverage, giving our guests the added bonus of the opportunity to enjoy an ‘electronic detox’ for a day!
